Nebraska State Senator Ernie Chambers Makes a Stand for for what The Tye Band Company is doing,


Not only do we thank you Ernie, but the children at the Omaha Boys & Girls Clubs and their staff Thank you as well.

After Ernie Chambers sent the above letter he called Mike Pratt Sr. to go over the Tye BandsTM he ordered...
Senator Chambers said " Mr. Pratt I would never want to cause Tye's father and mother, Rita, any more pain then you have already gone through but if I may, let me say this, had your son not been killed we would never have met". Ernie and Tye's dad went on to talk about this for a long time.

Just a week after we received the above letter the following article appeared...



Over the last several months Tye's mother and father have spent many many hour with Senator Chambers discussing the future of the youth in our community.

Senator Chambers is in his mid 60's. I wonder who he had in mind when he said "adults should not be hard-headed and arrogant and should let younger people teach them things". Tye was only 30 years old when he was killed... less then half of Ernies age.

Chambers Sends Thanks to 4 Officers

State Sen. Ernie Chambers, a frequent critic of the Omaha Police Department, sent letters of praise this week to four of the city's officers.

Chambers thanked the men - who rescued a woman, her three young children and a teenager from a burning house - for their courage and selflessness.

"Your own safety, welfare and very lives were put at risk," Chambers wrote to Officers Robert Daley, Chad Frodyma, Richard Jouppi and Chad Schroeder. "Nonetheless, you subordinated all personal considerations to the goal of saving a family."

Tamika Jeffrey, her three children and her cousin Taishay Jackson were trapped Monday in the basement at 3415 California St. as a fire burned on the main floor.

The officers arrived at the home before firefighters and heard the children screaming. The officers forced open a back door and searched in dense smoke to find the basement door and help the family get outside.

In a note to a World-Herald reporter that accompanied a copy of the letter, Chambers said he has been critical of the Police Department when he thought that misconduct had occurred.

"Every coin has two sides," he wrote. "This represents the other side."
